Terms of use

1. What this site is

RollBrief is an informational and editorial website. It publishes short written assessments of free match-3 puzzle games available on Google Play, along with the star rating and review count shown on each game's store listing at the time of our last check.

Everything we write about a game is the opinion of our editorial desk, formed after playing the title. It is not a statement of fact about quality, and it is not advice about whether you should install anything. Store figures move, developers publish updates, and a game you install today may differ from the version we played.

By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

2. Advertising disclosure

The index on this site is free to read. There is no account and no reader fee, and no entry is hidden behind a paywall. The optional Plus membership described in section 3 sits alongside the index; it does not close any part of it.

The desk is supported commercially through advertising and through memberships: studios and advertising networks book promotional placement for free titles on these pages, so a portion of the outbound links are commercial, and readers who take a Plus membership cover the rest. Those arrangements are what allow the editorial work to be published without charging anyone to read the index.

Placement is negotiated separately from the editorial process. Booking a placement does not buy a favourable assessment, does not change the star rating we display — that figure belongs to Google Play — and does not allow a critical line to be removed from an entry. A Plus membership carries no editorial influence either. Where a listing is promoted, it still has to pass the same editorial checks described on the main page.

3. Plus membership

Plus is an optional paid membership operated by RollBrief. It gives a member extended write-ups with detailed notes on mechanics, tempo and difficulty; early access to new write-ups before they appear in the public index; a weekly e-mail digest written by the desk; and access to the archive of past issues for as long as the membership runs. Everything published in the public index remains free to read whether or not you hold a membership.

The rates are A$4.90 per month or A$39 per year, in Australian dollars and inclusive of GST where it applies. A yearly membership is billed once for the twelve-month period. We will give at least 30 days' notice by e-mail before any change to the rates, and a change never applies to a period already paid for.

Seats are released in stages. Submitting the form on the main page adds you to the Plus list; it is a request, not a contract. Nothing is billed until we confirm a seat by e-mail and you complete that confirmation. Until then no payment details are collected and no charge is raised.

You may cancel at any time, with no notice period and no cancellation fee, by replying to any digest or writing to the address in section 10. Cancellation stops the membership renewing; access continues to the end of the period already paid for, and we do not pro-rate the unused part of that period unless the Australian Consumer Law requires it.

Payments, when the membership goes live, are handled by an external payment provider under its own terms. RollBrief does not receive, process or store card numbers or other payment credentials; we hold only your e-mail address, the state of your membership and the date it started or ended.

Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including your right to a remedy where a paid service is not supplied with due care and skill or does not match its description. If the digest is not delivered as described, write to us and we will put it right, which may include a refund of the affected period. Questions about a membership go to editor@rollbrief.com.

4. No affiliation

RollBrief is an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or acting on behalf of Google LLC, Google Play, or any of the studios and publishers whose titles appear on this site. Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.

We host no application files. Every download button opens the official Google Play listing in a new tab, and the download, installation, purchase and refund process is governed entirely by Google's own terms and by the developer's terms.

5. Intellectual property

Game titles, icons, screenshots, promotional artwork, trade marks and studio names shown on this site remain the property of their respective owners. They are reproduced here for the purpose of identification, review and reporting, which we consider fair dealing for criticism and review under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

The editorial text, page structure, layout, visual design and code of this website are the property of RollBrief. You may quote short extracts with a visible link back to the page they came from. Bulk copying, republication of entries, or use of our text to train an automated system is not permitted without written consent.

If you own rights in material published here and want it credited differently or removed, write to editor@rollbrief.com and we will act on the request promptly.

6. User conduct

You agree not to interfere with the operation of the site, attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it, scrape it at a rate that degrades service for other readers, or submit an e-mail address that is not yours to the sign-up form.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. While we check every listing before publishing it and revisit entries monthly, we do not warrant that the content is complete, current or free of error, that ratings still match the store, or that the site will be available without interruption.

To the extent permitted by law, RollBrief excludes all implied warranties and is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the content of this site, from third-party links, or from your use of any application listed here. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the relevant content.

8. Third-party links

Outbound links lead to Google Play and, in some cases, to advertising partners. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content, their terms or their privacy practices.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the site develops. The current version always appears on this page with its “last updated” date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

10. Applicable law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia, and by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia that apply in that state. The courts of Victoria have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
